Pietro Sanna is an Italian contemporary artist, originally from Sardinia and now based in York, UK. He initially focused on painting and collage, but began experimenting with ceramics during his degree in 2014. Sanna developed the idea of using the vessel as a 3D canvas, onto which he conveys a narrative through visual imagery and words. His vessels, constructed using the coil technique, take on uneven, asymmetrical forms, and feature layered narratives incorporating words, statements, his own poetry, and hand-drawn imagery.

Sanna draws inspiration from a wide range of sources, often weaving political, sociological, and philosophical reflections into his work. His art addresses human emotions such as life, love, and death, which are frequently repeated as a mantra to emphasize their significance. The artist's work also explores human struggles, both on an individual level and within the broader context of society.

A distinctive feature of Sanna's vessels is the use of 24 Karat gold. He uses this material to express its historical and contemporary significance, exploring the way gold continues to influence human perception and shape societal values. His work is currently exhibited in various galleries across the UK, where it continues to engage audiences with its blend of personal reflection and broader social commentary.
