Dan Monteavaro, also known as Moncho 1929, is a New York-born artist whose captivating artwork explores the dualities of contemporary life through his series of chimeras. His work can be found in private, city, and corporate collections, from Google, Inc. to the French Consulate of the US, as well as the City of New York, Paramount, the NBA, MLS, and Universal Pictures. His art is also included in public art collections in cities such as Glendale, Los Angeles, and West Hollywood.

Most recently, Monteavaro’s work was acquired by the Iowa Museum of Modern Art (The Figge) and exhibited at The Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art. He was also included in the juried BP Portrait Awards at The National Portrait Gallery in the UK. Now living and working in Los Angeles, CA, he continues to push boundaries with his distinctive vision.

Monteavaro’s works are a striking exploration of hybrid creatures, blending elements from the past and present to question how we perceive the world. His chimeras—combinations of human figures, animals, and industrial objects—bridge timelines, evoking confusion, familiarity, and awe. The surreal nature of these beings is underscored by the delicate lines and colors that invite viewers to navigate through the conflicting yet harmonious narratives his art conjures. These intricate and thought-provoking works provide a poignant reflection on global relationships and the complexities of contemporary life.
