Helen Beard (born 1971 in Birmingham, UK) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Brighton and London whose work celebrates sexual empowerment through bold, intimate imagery.

Originally trained in ceramics at Edinburgh College of Art and later apprenticing with Edmund de Waal, Beard expanded her artistic language through painting, collage, tapestry, and needlepoint.

Her vibrant canvases and ceramic vessels transform explicit source images into colourful, textured dialogues on desire, reframing sexuality through a distinctly female and queer gaze while interweaving abstraction and representation.

Beard’s exhibitions include solo shows like It’s Her Factory (Unit London, 2019) and The Desire Path (Reflex Amsterdam, 2020), and her work has featured in the True Colours exhibition at Newport Street Gallery and in the co-curated Sensitive Content show at Unit London in 2022.
